Dr. Natalie DeHorn

Artistic Director and Director of Concert choir, Dr. DeHorn is a co-founder of the Kettering Children’s choir. She is a graduate of Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Michigan , Michigan State University and Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois . Dr. DeHorn has received over 100 grants for the KCC and has received personal grants from the National Endowment of the Humanities and the Ohio Arts Council.

Dr. James Tipps

Director of Cappella is Dr. Tipps, who is beginning his eighteenth year at Wright State University, where he is associate professor and coordinator of Music Education. His teaching load includes conducting, research, and methods classes at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, in addition to conducting the Men's Chorale and University Chorus. He holds a doctorate in music education from Florida State University.

Bruce Swank

Mr. Swank is in his fourteenth year with KCC and works with the Chorale. He holds music education degrees from Ohio State University and Indiana University. He holds a Kodaly Certificate and diploma from the Kodaly Center of America. He teachers K-6 general music in the Northmont City Schools and is an adjunct professor at DePaul University in Chicago, IL, and Capital University in Columbus, Ohio.

Cara TobeyCara Tobey

Cara Tobey directs the Chorus for the fifth year.  Cara graduated with a Bachelor of Music Education in 1991 and a Masters of Music Education in 1996.  She has been teaching elementary music and middle school chorus in the West Carrollton schools since 1992.  Cara is an Adjunct Professor of Miami University Middletown.

Rex Hicks

Rex Hicks has served nineteen years as vocal coach for the Kettering Children's Choir. He is a graduate of Bethel College where he received an AB degree and Drake University where he received a Bmus and a Mmus. He has thirty years college teaching experience with eighteen years spent at Wheaton College where he was a Professor of Choral Music. He has served twenty years as a church musician with five years as full time Director of Music at Fairhaven Church in Dayton.

Linda Kessler

Linda Kessler accompanies the Concert Choir and the Chorale. She has a bachelor's degree, cum laude, from Heidelberg College in piano performance, graduate work at the University of Dayton, and has attended Interlochen National Music Camp. Linda has spent the past 30 years as a free-lance solo performer / accompanist at L'auberge, La Comedia Dinner Theatre, Forest View Gardens, Whitewater Opera Company, Dayton Choral Academy, Kettering Children's Choir, numerous churches, and choral groups. She also teaches private piano lessons.

Scott Forney

Scott Forney teaches Music Skills classes to the Chorus and the Chorale. He graduated from the University of Cincinnati , holds two levels of Kodaly certification from Capital University and teaches music in the Oakwood City Schools.

Kim Edwards

Kim Edwards is the Director of the KCC North Choristers, a new satellite Choir of the KCC that rehearses in Vandalia. Previously, she taught Music Skills classes for the KCC Chorus and Chorale. She holds Master of Music and Bachelor of Music degrees from Wright State University, and teaches music in the Valley View School District.
