The KCC honored Judy Schneider at our most recent Board of Director's Meeting on November 14, 2024.
Judy has made the decision to retire after 14 years of working in the KCC office as our wonderful Administrative Assistant. Beginning in 2010, she took on the job at the urging of KCC Founder, Dr. Natalie DeHorn. As Judy recounts: "I was a member of the Board, and Natalie told me that she needed someone to fill in. Seeing as how I had retired from [elementary music] teaching, the position was a great fit." Dr. DeHorn says of Judy, "Judy was the best, by far, of any team members that I worked with in the KCC! She was always eager to help with anything we needed! And she always showed up with a smile on her face! She is a wonderful friend! I love her!"
Former Artistic Directors, Mark and Jennifer Jauss, have this to say about Judy: "When you think of the KCC, you can’t help but think of Judy Schneider—the two are synonymous with one another. Judy is a KCC treasure, and one of the many 'bright spots' of the organization. We’re especially thankful for Judy’s great work during our significant transition from Rosewood to Wright State, and for everything that she did to help with the initial Summer Sing festivals. All of this was happening around the same time, and we never could’ve done it all without Judy! Her tireless efforts and devotion to the KCC helped ensure the success of these events, and many more."
Current Artistic Director, Christina Smith, says, "Judy has been my rock during these last five years in the job. Her expertise in the music field has been integral to her success in this position. Every question I had (and I had a lot of them) was answered almost immediately and with such patience. I count on her every day to do so much - chief among them, doing the 'little things' that she does so well. I always know that the scrapbook will be updated, the program will be written, the birthday cards will be sent out to singers, the calendar will be posted in the KCC office, emails will be answered, and so much more. Speaking on behalf of the directors, accompanists, and staff, we will miss having her with us every Tuesday, but we are grateful to have had the chance to work for KCC alongside her for the last 14 years."
Please make plans to join us and celebrate Judy in person at our annual spring concert. The concert will be held on Sunday, May 11 at 3:30pm at Kettering Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 3939 Stonebridge Road.
