HOW THE AUCTION WORKS
THE AUCTION LINK https://givebutter.com/c/gfXojL
or the QR code to the right
takes you to the KCC “Campaign Page” providing general information about
the fund-raising effort. Clicking on the “AUCTION” tab at the top of the
page takes you to the auction itself. The auction will remain open for
bids until 830pm.
YOU MUST REGISTER TO BID. Registration information includes your name and
address, email and phone number, and credit card information for payment
on your winning bids. If you want to have your participation unknown to
other bidders you have the option to make your bids anonymously. (For
registration validation, an email will be sent to you with a code that you
need to enter at the registration process.)
PAYMENT. Winning bids will be processed immediately at the conclusion of the auction. Winning bids will include a credit card handling fee of 2.9% plus 30 cents. If you are successful on more than one auction item, a single credit card payment for all items will be processed.
BIDS. Each item in the auction has a minimum starting bid amount and an incremental bid value. Your initial bid will be either the minimum starting bid amount if you are the first bidder, or the current bid amount plus the increment. You also establish a maximum bid amount for the item. You can have a maximum bid greater than the retail value of the auction item.
AUTOMATIC BIDS. We have adopted an “auto-bid” process for the auction. Under this approach, if someone outbids you the system automatically makes your new bid the current high bid plus the increment. As bidding progresses, this continues until your maximum bid value is reached. At this point the system will alert you (via text or email) that you have been outbid and you have the opportunity to establish a new maximum bid value and the process continues. If two or more people have the same maximum bid at the conclusion of the auction the item will be awarded to the first person reaching the maximum bid.
FULFILLMENT. Most auction items will be at the country club for winners who are attending the evening. Other arrangements will be made for those not at the dinner.
WHAT’S IN THE AUCTION? On the next page is a summary of the 70+items we have in the auction as we begin.
There are seven auction categories from “travel” to “services”. There is something here you want! Once in the auction site you can filter on a category and see all those that are in it. If you know which item interests you the most, you can search on a word from the item name you see on the next page. The “details” button in an item will provide a full description and the bidding values and increments.
QUESTIONS? If you have any questions about the auction or the dinner, please contact KCC’s Auction Manager, Bob Gajda, at bob@ketteringchidrenschoir.org or by text at 703.850-1178
